Curriculum
While there is no specific major required for law school, we offer a range of courses tailored to prepare you for that transformative journey.
Theories of Law and Justice
Examination of the concept of law and the concept of justice, with a particular focus on 20th and 21st century philosophical theories of each concept, as well as critical contemporary discussions of those theories.
U.S. Environmental Law and Policy
This course has a strong practical focus to help students develop skills for careers in sustainability. Students will work in groups on a semester-long sustainability project on campus and a simulation of a climate change summit.
International Law and Organization: European Union
A review of the history of the European Union (EU). Addresses the politics of identity, such as the meaning of being European and the challenge of nationalism, treaty law, and integration theories.
There is no specific pre-law major required for law school. The path to law school can be pursued through any major that aligns with your academic interests, with the guidance of a pre-law advisor.
Obtain a Bachelor's Degree
Start by completing a bachelor's degree in any field. Many students find their interests met through our Law and Justice minor.
Take the LSAT
Prepare for and take the Law School Admission Test, a standardized exam assessing aptitude for legal studies.
Attend Law School
Apply to and enroll in an accredited law school to earn a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
Prepare for the Bar Exam
Graduates from law school must pass the Bar Exam in the jurisdiction where they wish to practice law.
Obtain Bar Admission
After passing the Bar Exam, apply for admission to the state bar association to become a licensed attorney.
Develop Your Legal Career
Determine your preferred legal practice area and gain expertise through internships, clerkships, or entry-level positions.
