Introductory Practicum in Broadcast Television
The first course in a two-part practicum experience, this class offers students an opportunity to help run the community access television station that operates out of CELEB.
Public Speaking
This introductory course serves many purposes, including providing students with an understanding of the process of human communication in public situations.
Broadcasting
Introduction to Journalism
Basic techniques of reportage, from researching to writing to editing. Emphasis on writing for newspapers, though other print and broadcast media also will be examined.
Magazine Feature Writing
A survey of writing modes associated with print journalism, with primary emphasis on magazine feature writing.
Journalism
UX Design: Interactive Design
This course will challenge the participants to research and address user’s goals, thus affording the opportunity for the users to interact in the easiest and most effective way possible.
Introduction to Drawing and Design
This studio course introduces the basic concepts, techniques, and processes of design and drawing.
Art
Music, Sound, and Theory
This introductory course comprises two integrated components: the development of music theory skills alongside the conceptual investigation of sound and music.
Investigating Genre: Rap/Hip-Hop
How do social lives and musical cultures interrelate, and how have genres emerged over time? In this class, students answer these questions by using rap/hip-hop as a semester-long case study
Private instrument courses
Students receive individual instruction with a qualified instructor. Thirteen 40-minute lessons or equivalent per semester. Open to all students, from beginning to advanced skills.

Introduction to Film Art
Exploring the work of filmmakers from around the globe, this introductory-level course examines the formal elements of filmmaking as well as the various forces—political, technological, cultural, and economic—that give rise to specific kinds of cinematic art.
Sound and Film
From its inception in the late 1890s, film has been conceptualized as an audio-visual medium. This course addresses cinema’s quintessentially audio-visual nature, focusing specifically on film sound and music.
Directing Fiction Film
This course explores the craft of narrative fiction filmmaking. Through a series of technical exercises and creative assignments, students cultivate their skills as writers and directors, and develop the skills required to plan and execute a film project through various stages of production.
